The origins

The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® was born in the United States in the early 1980s, from the intuitions and creative genius of the Hungarian dancer Juliu Horvath. After breaking his Achilles tendon, an injury that puts an end to his career as a dancer, Juliu begins the individual practice of Yoga; he thus deepens the study and intensive practice of Yoga by developing a system called "Yoga for Dancers", with which he creates and deepens the advanced level that will take the name of the GYROKINESIS® method.

Later his creative energies allowed him to develop the GYROTONIC® method as we know it today.

The training method

GYROTONIC® exercise is a training method based on the concept of three-dimensional movement, which stimulates the joints in a beneficial way by harmoniously involving the muscles. It allows the body to stretch and strengthen at the same time. The GYROTONIC® method offers similar benefits also derived from dance, yoga, martial arts, swimming, and it does so through spherical movements, with constant resistance and without interruption. Each exercise of the GYROTONIC® method is strictly connected and synchronized with a specific type of breathing, which must take place at a pace suited to individual needs. This type of breathing is called "rhythmic-melodic" and it is very important because it improves lung capacity, physical endurance and arterial flow. It is an excellent training system both in terms of personal benefits and well-being, and as a support for sports.

Who is it for?

Thanks to its adaptability and extreme versatility, GYROTONIC® exercise has no limitation of age, sex or health conditions. Its practice is aimed at everyone. The particularity of this discipline allows you to reap benefits in a rather short time. The needs that drive us to seek, and then choose, one physical activity rather than another, change according to priorities and personal experiences. The only requirement is to want to do something for ourselves, the desire to feel better is in fact the best push to start feeling "better".
